Costa Ladera

Ensenada – then and now

Costa Ladera is being developed in the vibrant city of Ensenada, home to more than 350,000 residents and home to the majority of the region’s shops, restaurants, galleries and other attractions. While authentic to its roots as a historic fishing village, Ensenada also offers modern conveniences that include a new Costco, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Office Depot and a 14-screen cinema. The expanding region is also slated for a major container seaport and, a new international airport. Ensenada is also Mexico’s second most visited cruise ship destination with weekly departures for ports such as Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco.

First discovered in 1542 by Portuguese navigator Don Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, Ensenada has grown to become northern Baja’s cultural center. As part of an exciting calendar of events, the city hosts the annual Baja 1000 off-road race, the Newport-Ensenada Regatta and La Fiesta de las  Vendimias wine festival. With world-class culinary arts and landmark bars—including the famous Hussong’s Cantina—Ensenada’s cosmopolitan credentials are firmly established.

Centro – the heart of the city

El Centro, or just “Centro” to residents, is the heart of Ensenada. Filled with cafés, bars, restaurants, galleries, museums and cultural attractions, shops of every variety and a huge, thriving fresh fish market, Centro has something for everyone. Concentrated within approximately five blocks of the bustling Avenida Lopez Mateo, Centro is perfectly suited for on-foot adventures and invites endless explorations.

Whether you’re bargaining with merchants, exploring historical architecture, surveying the day’s catch, or just enjoying a cold beverage at an outdoor café, Centro is the place to be.

International influence you can taste

Baja is known for delicious fish and lobster tacos and other seafood specialties, however there’s much more to the flavor of Ensenada. The region’s international influences allow you to savor an expensive variety of international delicacies at intimate bistros or elegant five-star restaurants.
